apa is not evaluating players fairly. Why do someone move up a level when there are better players left that have better records. They need to check the whole division before you moving someone up. If you are a 3 and not nowhere near the best why would you be moved up. And no defensive shots or innings have nothing to do with it. Apa chose to put the blame on us but it's there fault. They refuse to move down certain players like they have favorites. Now if a player is moved down and wins mvp for two or three sessions there is no way they shouldn't go back up but people who shoot crappy get moved down win 12 to 8 and go right back up. I know what I'm talking about I follow other players wins and loses. I was a 3 I was losing bad on both teams they would not move me down so I buy a table so I can get better and I started winning I made 4th on the mvp list number 1 was undefeated so why they moved me up and lock me as a 4. So how can you win mvp. The person that can't be beat should go up. Why skip certain players who is better and have a better record? If I can't beat a person as a 3 how can you win as a 4. It true don't say anything about defense shots most players don't use defense. Maybe it should be a place to mark mistake shots if defensive shots matter. But I know and researched that certain people go up that shouldn't and those who should don't . If you keep winning mvp over and over having perfect session you should go up. We need honest people to be spies to see who should go up or down cause I feel some people get pick on and some get left alone to dominate there divsion every session. It's true![9]

why are you mvp because you beat a high rank player that's stupid I know if I beat a 7 12 to 8 but a team mate beats a 3 18 to 2 those 18 points are more valuable to the team then 8 points. Why not go by the points each player gets for his or her team the same in say basketball you not mvp for scoring on a good player they get it for getting the most points ect. It's nonsense to do it the way they are because say you are the only low shooter on your team your gonna shoot mostly the low numbers then you have teams with nothing but low numbers and they have no choice but to play high numbers and they usually chose their very best underrated player of course. So they gonna keep winning mvp even if you won every game you played you not mvp. Count the points who cares what the person rated. It would be better everyone I talk to about that agree it's stupid to go by skill levels.

i believe the apa should change the rule regarding calling your shot;lucky shots artificially raise some skill levels and lower others,i believe most players feel ''uncomfortable'' moving on to another shot after making a ''fluke'' or lucky shot,it seems a bit unfair to have a teams entire season decided because someone hits a shot after kissing off every ball and every bank on the table and magically finding a pocket. Its also the biggest criticism i run into when talking to people i'd like to get into the league.I think skill levels would be more accurate to the players ability,at the very least.lets get away from being referred to as a "slop pool league"..

I was just trying to find the actual formula for evaluating skill level of players. I have been told several different formulas, none of which seem to be accurate! We always hear about innings and defensive shots scored accurately but that makes no sense after what I just saw! Four players from one team were raised one skill level each in just one week!!! I'd like to have the odds of that happening...P.S...they just played a team with two league reps on it last week...hhmmmmmmm

New dress code at home location

Our home location just started enforcing a new dress code. No jackets, not boots, no open toe flip flops, hat to be worn with brim facing the front, only 1 necklaces to be worn that is shown, no baggy clothing and a few other rules. When I shoot, I sweat. My feet get very hot so I wear flip flops. Now with this new dress code, I will be at a disadvanage. I will be more worried about my feet sweating through my socks and shoes than shooting. Our city ( Salisbury, MD)has high crime but still, we need to be comfy. Any other location have similar dress codes?

I think their should be a rule that says you have to play 2 skill level 3s or higher. You can't go over 23 so you shouldn't be able to go under 12. There are teams that have all 2s and 1s and there is no way you can match I always have to play like a 5 or a 6 on a 2 and believe me they are not a 1 or a 2. Half maybe rated right but the team with all low shooters are gonna win. Your spotting to many balls to someone who can run just as many balls as you . I can't play whoever I want to play so no one should. I had to drop half my team cause players move up and we couldn't play cause of the 23 rule. In my division 80 percent of the two can play like a good 3. It would be fair to everyone to make a under12 rule. The 23 rule is not needed as bad as a too low rule. I would not just throw all high shooters up unless the other team doing the same. A 6 is not beating a 1 or 2 unless they are really just learning like what they suppose to be. The 1s,2s,and 3s in my division would beat a higher rated player easy. I don't know maybe if lowshooters shot like they suppose to it wouldn't be a problem. Now days it's like the 1s shoot like 2s and 2s shoot like 3s and so on. When I first started apa everything was fine a 1 could barely make ball in hand now they make bankshots and combos and hitting balls after you safe them. I was a 2 for a while that was my learning time. I never beat a higher player unless they had a real bad day. Does anyone think it's the too low rule is fair besides the low teams. Peace[9]

Maybe after all this talk about the power that reps do or don't have, maybe it would be better to evaluate reps more often by the teams and not just when they referee semi-final matches. Elections might also help, not just when a rep resigns and needs to be replaced. I have no problem with a rep retaining their position for years if they are elected to that position, but not because the teams have not had the option to elect their reps.

Ramona

Julianna's ownership has changed hands. There were some technical issues and the rumor that Julianna's was closed is not true. When I heard about it I went to see for myself. When I arrived @ 9:00pm Thursday evening, Juliannas was open for business.
The new ownership is working on rectifying the problems that occurred, but Nick the new manager and the new owners have intentions on keeping it open and available to the APA for hosting their teams. It may be touch and go for a little bit, so please don't spread any rumors unless you know for sure. Julianna's new hours are 11:00am to 2:00am.
This is a nice bar, good food, excellent parking. Give the new owners a chance. Eve though I have not met them, I hear they are nice people, trying the best that they can. Like I said it may be touch and go for a little while, just hand in there with them...

Teresa

Is it me or are people taking this writing people up too far. Its like some people act like kids telling the teacher on a classmate. Some things should be written up for example a person shooting as a too low or high skill level and a few others but my problem is people who use it as a power to try and get someone in trouble. One week we played against a new team that had some people new to the division and some just new. To start out we flipped and they won he says he will put up first. Ok then after i fill out the numbers of what team is whatever line he comes back and says he changed his mind he wants me to put up first but me being a good sportsman said thats fine and scribbled my paper work up fixing who goes first, second ect. We play the first match and then i walk over and say im putting my 2 up and she gives me this funny look but dont say anything so we looking at the paper and its them who was supposed to put up because he changed it remember but the scribbled paper confused me so she says she had said she was playing a 4 but i didnt hear her so I was like ok im playing my 4 and she was like ok and wrote it down and all was fine. Another team mate heard we was changing our player and went off saying no they cant do that. You say something you cant go back and change it. She kept complaining but by this time the two 4's was flipping for the break. Everyone else on her team was ok with because for one we was supposed to put up last anyway it wasnt like we was supposed to put up first and two they just told us they would put up first then came back and changed it after we had it on paper already which she didnt know because her big mouth was talking so my female playing only said to her its over now why you still talking about it they already shooting youll could have said no and we would made our 2 play your 4 and that was it. Then a few seconds later she like I'm writting her up. Now I don't know what she told the APA but they sent my team mate a letter about the incident. The APA should not allow just anyone to just have a issue with someone and they accept what anyone is saying without speaking to the other person involved plus what was the reason for her to write my player up. My team has goodsportsmanship and we know most of the players in our area. The APA should tell these people if its not about pool dont come telling the APA about every little problem you have at pool especially if your the one causing the trouble. Some people just don't know how to act and I make sure people like that don't join my team. And one more thing don't write someone up because you lost. Sometimes people have a good game or you had a bad game know the person before you think they aint what they should be.
